The band Aïssâwaniyya, lead
by Mehdi Nabti, joins together soufis musicians of the Aïssâwa
brotherhood from Morocco and french Jazzmen. At the same time saxophonist
and sociologist Ph.D, Mehdi Nabti made contact the year 2001 with soufis
musicians masters from the Aïssâwa brotherhood with he deepens
his musicals knowledges. Since this time, the young french man from kabyle
ancestry have studied, dissected and transcribe rythms, melodies, songs
and mystics psalms, explained them to his jazzmen friends in France, recorded
with them, came back in Morocco for making the requisites adjustements,
and finally created this very particular orchestra with the leader of
the Aïssâwa brotherhood in Fès, Haj Azedine Bettahi.
With the help of Haj Bettahi, Nabti learned a lot about the mysticism
symbolism and all the technicals and corporals techniques current in the
trance rituals in Maghreb. Contrary to the casuals and commercials adventures,
this band benched slowy, in an intimacy collaboration. Here, the soufi
music of Maghreb meets a new generation of musicians accustomed with contemporary
jazz. Rendez-vous with the fervour and the beyond [Yves Bernard, Le Devoir,
